Sunstrip Application

Preparation is key!

The surface must be free from all contaminants such as dirt and dust. Clean the area with glass cleaner or an isopropyl alcohol cleaning wipe then completely dry with a paper towel, glass cloth or microfibre.

Wet method is recommended for sunstrips, this is applying the sunstrip with soapy water to alow movement to gain desired positioning.

With the backing still on the sunstrip measure where you would like the sunstrip (width and depth), and leave a small amount around the top and sides to ease application. Apply masking tape to both sides of the car in line. Using the masking tape will help you line it up straight.

Apply a small amount of soapy water to the glass. Remove backing paper from the sunstrip and spray a small amount evenly onto the sticky part of the sunstrip.

Measure up where you want the sunstrip, lining it to the masking tape previously applied. When you are happy, squeeze the water out starting from the centre. This will hold the edges in place and prevent it from moving.

We recomend using a squeegee to do this to get the best finish, we do sell them in the sunstrip section and accessories.

While squeezing the water out it is helpful to work downwards for the water to flow out. Once you are happy the water is out and its positioned correctly, you can begin to trim the edges.

We recomend using a sharp blade for a precision cut. Cut as close to the windscreen as possible without making contact. Please take care when cutting to avoid damages to your car.

Leaving 1-2cm at the top will help create a more finished look and will lay close to the roof. Please ensure all water is out of the sunstrip, otherwise it will not adhere correctly.

We recommend to leave your car for atleast 3-10 hours depending on weather to avoid it flying off. You may wish to apply a small amount of heat with a hair dryer / heat gun to help the drying process.

Once you have applied your sunstrip, please feel free to send us a photo through our email or instagram.

Weather

Avoid applying vinyl stickers in extreme weather conditions of hot or cold. Vinyl will become stretchy when too hot or brittle when too cold. Weather can also affect the removal of the vinyl from the transfer tape.

Aftercare

Vinyl sunstrips can take 48-72 hours to fully adhere, it is recommended to avoid washing your car during this time.
